South Coast Winery Resort & Spa, an award-winning luxury winery, resort, spa, and event destination in the heart of Temecula Wine Country, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is ideal for an accounting professional looking to grow their career in hospitality finance while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic resort environment.

Position Summary

The Junior Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting operations of the resort by assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger activities. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily accounting and bookkeeping functions.

  • Process accounts payable invoices and vendor payments.

  • Assist with accounts receivable billing, collections, and reconciliations.

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.

  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and files.

  • Assist with audits and financial reporting requirements.

  • Support payroll accounting and related reconciliations.

  • Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.

  • Hospitality, resort, restaurant, or winery accounting experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to move throughout the property as needed.
